Patients in rural and regional NSW can now apply for and receive travel and accommodation support more easily, thanks to a safer and more user-friendly online system for the Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (IPTAAS).

IPTAAS, part of HealthShare NSW, provides financial assistance towards travel and accommodation for NSW patients who need to travel long distances for specialised health treatment not available locally.

Applying online remains the quickest and easiest way to receive payments which is why we’ve upgraded the system to make it simpler and safer for patients and their families to use.

As part of the upgrade, we’ve added an extra layer of security to make personal information safer. Patients can now log in using their registered IPTAAS username and password along with a code sent to their email or phone (multi-factor authentication), or by using a Digital ID if they have one.

What's new

  • A modern, refreshed layout that’s easier to follow
  • Stronger protection for personal information
  • Improved experience across smartphones and tablets
  • Built-in help resources to guide users

Early feedback from patients highlights the positive impact of the changes.

‘First, I want to note that the application process on the new website is much easier to use. And please compliment the IT people who have done such a great job with this site.’

The updated system follows more than a year of development and collaboration across multiple teams.

Dijana Angeleski, IPTAAS Statewide Manager, said the launch is a significant milestone for patients and staff.

‘The IPTAAS team has dedicated over a year to developing the updated online system. It’s truly rewarding to see it go live and to offer our patients a more user-friendly and secure experience,’ she said.

Nafiza Hai, Project Manager at EnableNSW Operations, said the upgrade reflects strong collaboration focused on improving access and simplifying processes.

‘The IPTAAS go-live is a significant milestone that reflects the collaboration and dedication of multiple teams. It has been incredibly rewarding to work on a program focused on improving access and simplifying the experience for patients and staff,’ she said.

The successful rollout is also thanks to the efforts of IPTAAS team members, who trained and prepared for the changes while continuing to support patients, ensuring a smooth transition and consistent service throughout.
