HealthShare NSW will take the next step in our reconciliation journey.
HealthShare NSW will take the next step in our reconciliation journey, with the launch of our second RAP – Innovate coming soon.
The Innovate RAP will be released soon after National Reconciliation Week which runs from 27 May until 3 June. The 2026 theme for NRW is ‘All In’, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.
HSNSW Chief Executive Wendy Hughes said supporting the call for equity and equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples should be essential in any workplace.
“As an organisation we are committed to deepening our actions - this is the next step in our journey towards reconciliation,” said Wendy Hughes, Chief Executive of HSNSW.
Our first RAP ‘Reflect’ was launched in 2022 and laid essential foundations for understanding, respect and meaningful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This Innovate RAP builds on that foundation and sets clear, purposeful deliverables to keep us accountable.
“This plan will strengthen our commitment to reconciliation, with a focus on building stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, promoting respect through cultural awareness, continuing employment growth and career opportunities, and strengthening governance frameworks that support long-term impact,” Ms Hughes added.
Guided by the Reconciliation Australia pillars – Relationships, Respect, Opportunities and Governance, RAPs provide a framework for organisations to leverage their structures and diverse spheres of influence to support the national reconciliation movement.
“We are proud of our achievements guided by our first Reflect RAP, celebrating our first Aboriginal Leadership Program, several graduates from our Jobs to Careers development program, a participation increase in Respecting the Difference training, securing more than $20 million in services and 63 business contracts from Aboriginal-owned businesses, just to name a few,” said Ms Hughes.
“The continued impact we can make with our Innovate RAP is essential to strengthening our action and we look forward to releasing it soon.”
The Innovate RAP contains 44 deliverables across 15 key actions, related to:
- Strengthening engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and stakeholders
- Building cultural capability and understanding of cultural protocols
- Educating leaders and staff on racism and anti-discrimination
- Strengthening Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander recruitment, retention and professional development
- Increasing engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses
- Publicly reporting Rap achievements, challenged and learnings.
